Restoring Yin & Yang Through Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice that balances Yin and yang. In TCM, Yin and Yang are two opposing but complementary forces. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. When they are unbalanced, the body is sick. Acupuncture restores this balance and restores the body to health.

It is said that “all things come from the yin and return to the yin; all things come from the yang and return to the yang.” This Taoist philosophy has been applied in TCM for centuries.

  • Yin (the feminine energy) is represented by water, darkness, coolness etc.
  • Yang (masculine energy) is represented by fire, light, warmth etc.

Yin and Yang are two opposing but complementary forces in traditional Chinese medicine. When these forces are out of balance with one another, it will lead to sickness or disease within a person’s body – which acupuncture can help restore back into balance.

How does acupuncture restore Yin and Yang?

Release

Acupuncture releases physical, mental and emotional tension so that Yin-Yang can be restored. Acupuncture stimulates specific points on the skin by inserting whisper thin needles into the body which helps release stress and anxiety from your system so that your mind is able to focus on healing. You will be able to experience this feeling of tranquility after your acupuncture session. It is important to note that not all acupuncturists provide the same level of service; some are more experienced than others. You can find an excellent acupuncturist by asking friends and family for referrals, or you can ask your physician about local acupuncturists in your community.

associated with it; for example, the heart, liver and lungs are each located along the heart meridian. Acupuncture points are places on your skin where energy can be accessed to stimulate these specific internal organs. If there is something wrong with that organ (i.e., cancerous tumor), then you will need to seek professional guidance from a holistic medical physician.

Assist

Acupuncture assists the body in regulating and balancing hormones so that Yin-Yang can be restored. The endocrine system (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands) is often referred to as the master gland because it controls all other glands in your body including your reproductive system, pancreas and kidneys. Each endocrine gland has a specific location within the body where it is most active, and that area of your skin is often an acupuncture point. Acupuncture stimulates these points to help regulate hormones in your system which reduces pain associated with endocrine dysfunction, increases fertility and decreases fatigue from hormone induced stress.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture stimulates the body’s immune system so that Yin-Yang can be restored. It helps to regulate your immune system by stimulating the thymus gland located at the top of your chest. This gland is responsible for producing T-cells which are a type of white blood cell that serves as a primary defender against viruses and bacteria in your body. Acupuncture balances your immune system so that it can better fight off infection and disease. Each acupoint stimulates and regulates your glands. If you have a compromised immune system due to illness or injury, then acupuncture can assist in helping your body to recover.

What are the benefits of balancing Yin and Yang?

Once the yin and yang within your system is restored, you will notice that you have less pain throughout your body because there is proper energy flow at the point of injury. When these points are blocked or deficient, it causes a build-up of negative energy which often manifests in the form of pain. Less stress and anxiety will also be present because your mind will feel at ease after an acupuncture treatment. You can expect to have more mental clarity, improved focus and increased memory retention after acupuncture has balanced out your yin and yang forces within your body.
